Mutton in Pressure Cooker


This is an earthy and aromatic Pressure Cooker Mutton recipe you must try. It is my version and no other Mutton dish can beat it. I cook Mutton with delicate spices which makes the dish rich and full of flavor, so you won’t stop leaking your finger. If you feel to eat full of flavor food in short time, then this is for you. Enjoy!

Cooking time take 45 minutes

Serves 8 with side dishes

Ingredients

1 & ½ Kg Mutton chopped into 3 inches cubes

2 big size Tomatoes blend to make Sauce

2 medium large Onion minced

4 tbsp cooking Oil

Salt to your taste

To Marinate Mutton

1 tsp Turmeric Powder

1 tsp Red Chili Powder

1 tsp Garam Masala

1 & ½ tbsp fresh Mint

4 tbsp Spring Coriander

1 tsp Salt

3 tbsp cooking Oil

For Masala paste

12 cloves Garlic

2 inches Ginger

2 tbsp Coriander seeds

1 & half tbsp Cumin Seeds

1 tsp Black Pepper

Whole Spices to infuse in Oil

8 Cloves

2 Cinnamon leaves

7 crushed Cardamoms

2 small Cinnamon sticks

4 Red dried Chilies optional

How to make

Prepare all the ingredients above

  1. Marinate the meat with 1 tsp Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp Red Chili Powder, 1 tsp Garam Masala, 1 & ½ tbsp fresh Mint, 4 tbsp Spring Coriander, 1 tsp Salt and 3 tbsp cooking Oil, after covering it and keep aside for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Make the Masala paste of 12 cloves Garlic, 2 inches Ginger, 2 tbsp Coriander seeds, 1 & half tbsp Cumin Seeds and 1 tsp Black Pepper, keep aside. Blend Tomatoes and mince Onion.

  3. Next heat a Pressure cooker in medium high heat with 4 tbsp cooking Oil. After the Oil gets slightly hot add dried red chilies, fry until the color changes and remove it from the oil and keep aside.

  4. Into same Oil add in 8 Cloves, 2 Cinnamon leaves, 7 Cardamom Crushed and

  5. 2 small Cinnamon Sticks and let it infuse around 20 seconds or until its color change. Now add in minced Onion, mix it and cook it until it looks golden in color and soften around 5 minutes.

  6. Next add in all the marinated meat, mix it very well and cook it until all the water dries of the meat.

  7. Add in Masala paste and salt to your taste, combine it very well and cook it for 4 minutes or until the oil separates. After you see the Oil got separated add in 800ml hot water, combine it, bring up to boil and lid on of the pressure cooker very tide. Turn heat down to medium low and cook it 20 minutes.

  8. After 20 minutes turn heat off, let all air out before open the lid. Lid off, turn heat up to medium high, mix it and add in Tomato Sauce, combine it very well and let it boil around 5 minutes or until the thickness of the gravy you prefer. Now you are done! Turn off the heat and serve as you wish and garnish with fresh mint or fried chilies if you like and enjoy with Rice, Roti, boiled Potatoes etc.
